At Shape Studio, every treatment decision is guided by a deep respect for the body’s natural intelligence. Rather than chasing trends, founder Jorgi Lee and her team focus on science-backed solutions that work with – not against – the body’s physiology. In this interview, Jorgi shares her thoughts on treatment innovation, evolving client needs, and what she hopes the next 30 years of beauty will bring.
How do you decide what treatment to invest in and offer your clients?
It’s important for us to understand how any new treatment interacts with the body on a physiological level. The way the skin reacts and responds to stimulation hasn’t changed, so we ask “will these “new treatments” align with the skin’s daily tasks, or will they be counterintuitive?”
Your skin is your body’s largest organ; it reflects internal organ health, and it needs to be protected, respected, and nourished.
What do you hope the next 30 years of beauty will look like?
You know, in the last 30 years, the human body hasn’t changed much in the way it operates. I think we’re only just starting to capitalise on that by creating products and devices that work with the body’s innate ability to heal, restore, replicate and rejuvenate itself.
I think the next 30 years has the potential for some profound advancements in the cosmetic industry, providing that pioneers are taking into consideration just how intelligent the human body truly is, and using that information to develop genuinely holistic technology.
In the four years that you’ve been running your clinic, have you noticed changes in how women embrace treatments. What are the most popular treatments today?
Anti-wrinkle injectables are still a service that dominates the industry, but we’re seeing more women shift their focus to skin quality. This might be by way of injectable skin boosters like Sunekos, targeted treatment facials, and medicated skin care, but when these kinds of treatments/ products are introduced, clients start to see global improvements to their skin quality, luminosity, integrity, elasticity etc.
Injectables have dominated for decades due to the near immediate results, however, historically these injectables haven’t been addressing skin quality. Filler addresses volume loss, botulinum toxin suspends muscular activity in high movement zones, but if skin quality is not taken into consideration too, then we’re only covering a small portion of the concern. Exceptional results can be achieved when the foundation is strong.
What percentage of your clients are men, and have you noticed any particular demographics or trends in who’s seeking your services?
We have fewer male clients, but we have certainly seen a shift in the way conversations about self-care are being received by men. For many Kiwi men, stepping into a clinic like Shape Studio was once perceived as a woman’s domain, but with open and tailored conversations, they’re starting to experience the concept of “life without limitations.” For men, these conversations are predominantly around unwanted hair and acne, and it’s really wonderful to journey with them to a place where they feel more confident.
Jorgi Lee’s thoughtful approach reminds us that true innovation in beauty isn’t about chasing the newest fad — it’s about working with the body, not against it.
As client awareness grows and the industry continues to evolve, Shape Studio remains grounded in purpose: delivering results through respect for physiology, intelligent technology, and personalised care.
If the next 30 years of beauty follow that path, the future looks not only more advanced but more authentic. Interested in how much beauty has changed over the years? Check out Beyond the Knife: The New Era of Personalised Aesthetic Treatments.
