CoolTech Fat Reduction uses Cryolipolysis, the medical treatment for destroying fat cells.

Fat cells are significantly more vulnerable to changes in temperature than other types of body tissue. With controlled cooling of these cells, CoolTech activates apoptosis (controlled cell death) which gradually and naturally eliminates the stubborn fat through the body’s metabolic system.

This results in up to a 30% reduction of fat cells in the treated area

Each CoolTech Fat Reduction session takes approximately 70 minutes depending on the area being treated. Smaller treatment areas using the ‘Tiny’ applicator take only 45 minutes. You may need to allow for at least 90 minutes from consultation to completion of your treatment.

Once you are comfortable, our clinic technician will apply a gel membrane to the area being treated. The application head is then placed on the area. The adipose tissue will then be pulled in to the application head via suction and will begin cooling the tissue, reducing body fat in the treated area without damaging surrounding cells.

When the applicator is removed, the area will feel cold and firm. This is how we know we have achieved a good harvest of fat cells and is a positive indication of pending results. A 5 minute post treatment massage will help restore the frozen fat layer back to normal and also assist in optimising results.

The CoolTech Fat Reduction treatment is a non-invasive treatment, which is usually very comfortable. Some patients may experience some discomfort as the suction begins. The first 10 minutes of cooling may be slightly uncomfortable until the tissue becomes numb, and then the remainder of your treatment should be perfectly comfortable.

Some clients have reported some minor discomfort during the post treatment massage also. We do however provide a warm towel to help minimise any potential discomfort during the massage.

The number of treatments required will vary from person to person, and ultimately it will depend on your desired result. For clients who are ‘ideal candidates’, we recommend a minimum of 1-2 treatments, depending on the area being treated and the amount of tissue available to be treated. Some clients have seen more than satisfactory results following one treatment, while others have chosen to undergo subsequent treatments to optimise their results.

We like to allow a generous time period of 8-10 weeks between treatments to allow for the results to develop before completing subsequent treatments, as the same applicators and positioning may require adjustment due to the changing shape of your treatment area.

The number of fat cells we have does not increase or decrease as our body weight fluctuates, it is the fat cells themselves that grow and shrink during these fluctuations. Once a fat cell is destroyed and metabolised by the body, it does not regenerate.

Therefore, the results of CoolTech Fat Reduction should be permanent, providing the client maintains a healthy diet and exercises regularly to aid in avoiding weight gain.

Patients can expect to see a reduction of up to 30% in the treated area with just one treatment Results from your CoolTech Fat Reduction treatment may begin to be visible from as early as two weeks post treatment, with maximum results visible after 90 days.

Due to the CoolTech treatments being non-invasive, side effects are minimal. Normal and temporary side effects associated with fat freezing that you may or may not experience include numbness, tenderness, swelling, itching and red skin at the treatment site.

There is no down time, no surgery involved, you simply come to your appointment and afterwards resume your normal activities.

It can be used to treat small areas of stubborn or excess fat on many different areas of the body, including the abdomen, flanks, bra rolls, love handles, banana roll (under buttock), thighs, knees, arms, and double chin. The CoolTech system has a range of applicators to suitably shape to these areas.

If you have sufficient pinchable tissue and are close to your ideal weight, then you are likely a good candidate for this treatment, however CoolTech Fat Reduction is not a treatment for anyone who is obese (BMI 30+), as it is not a weight loss solution. If you are underweight (BMI of less than 18) or if you have lost a great deal of weight and have loose rolls of skin that are not filled with fatty deposits, generally you are not a candidate for CoolTech Fat Reduction treatments.

There are some medical conditions that make fat freezing treatments not suitable. The best way to find out if you are a suitable candidate is to contact Shape Studio and book a consultation.

Generally speaking, there is no pre-treatment or post-treatment care required as the CoolTech Fat Reduction treatment is non-invasive and you can return to normal activities immediately after your treatment.

We do however advise that drinking an adequate amount of water following your treatment can aid the lymphatic system in flushing out the treated cells. Drinking alcohol and caffeinated beverages can hinder the body’s ability to flush these cells which may delay the onset of your results.
